Trillium Baroque was founded in 2019 by Adam LaMotte and his wife, Janet Coleman. The orchestra is named for beautiful Trillium Lake near Mt. Hood, a place of fond memories for Adam and Janet. Initially, the group consisted of a small number of string players and a keyboardist. It has since grown to up to 20 players, including viola da gamba, bassoon, and flute. Members of the orchestra have featured as soloists on violin, recorder, and flute. The orchestra has performed works by Albinoni, Bach, Brescianello, Corelli, Handel, Purcell, Telemann, and Vivaldi.
Adam LaMotte is known to audiences throughout the country as a leader of both period and modern ensembles. He has appeared as soloist, concertmaster, and conductor of numerous orchestras throughout the country. Adam was nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award as part of the El Mundo baroque ensemble and is now Program Director for the Berwick Academy which guides young professionals in the art of period instrument playing. As Artistic Director of the Montana Baroque Festival, he brings world-class period instrument performances to the rural Montana community. In 2018, Adam founded the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra in his home of Portland, Oregon. Around that time Adam also launched LaMotte violins providing the Domenic Fasso range of Baroque string instruments and bows.
